⚙ PRODUCT & MATERIAL

What material are the bolts and nuts made from?

Our titanium bolts and nuts are made from Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V). Grade 5 titanium combines low weight with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. If a different titanium grade is used for a particular product, this is clearly stated in the product specifications.

Are these genuine titanium products?

Yes. Our titanium products are not steel or stainless steel parts with a titanium-coloured coating. The base material is genuine titanium in the grade stated on the product page.

How are TiHex titanium products made?

Our titanium fasteners are precisely CNC-machined, then polished and finished. Coloured versions are subsequently anodised. The colour is created by an electrochemical change to the titanium surface, rather than a paint layer. Bare Titanium remains unanodised.

What are the advantages of titanium over steel or stainless steel?

Titanium combines low weight with a high strength-to-weight ratio and very good corrosion resistance. It can also be anodised in different colours, making it well suited to automotive, motorsport and visible installations.

Are titanium bolts stronger than steel bolts?

Not automatically. Grade 5 titanium is very strong for its weight, but some high-strength steels can have a higher absolute tensile strength. Always check the requirements of the specific application.

Does titanium rust?

Titanium does not form red rust like ordinary steel and is highly corrosion-resistant.

📏 SIZES & INSTALLATION

How do I know which bolt size I need?

Check at least the thread diameter, pitch, length, head type and drive. Unsure? Send us a photo and the available dimensions at info@tihex.eu.

See our sizing guide for titanium bolts, nuts and washers for an explanation of thread size, pitch and length.

Should I use anti-seize with titanium bolts?

High friction can cause galling in titanium threads, leading to seizure. A suitable anti-seize or assembly compound can reduce this risk. Always use a compound suitable for the specific application and bear in mind that lubrication affects the relationship between tightening torque and clamping force.

Which tightening torque should I use?

Use the tightening torque specified for the particular connection and application. Do not automatically apply the torque for a different type of bolt. Material, thread size, lubrication and the connected components all affect the required preload.

Can I use threadlocker such as Loctite?

Only when suitable for the application. Bear in mind that lubricants and threadlockers can affect assembly and tightening torque. Follow the requirements of the application and the instructions for the threadlocker used.

Which washers fit which bolts?

Our Titanium Cup Washers are intended for use with the matching TiHex DIN 912 hex socket bolts. Our Titanium Step Washers are designed for the matching TiHex low-profile Torx bolts. Always check size and compatibility on the product page.

Can I install titanium bolts with an impact wrench?

We recommend controlled assembly for titanium fasteners. Always start the thread by hand and preferably use suitable hand tools or a torque wrench for final installation. High assembly speed and friction increase the risk of galling.

Are TiHex bolts suitable for every application?

No. Always check the size, thread pitch, strength class and fastener specified by the manufacturer. Do not replace specified fasteners with titanium hardware in safety-critical applications without technical verification.

Can I reuse titanium bolts?

That depends on the application and condition. Before reuse, always check the thread, bolt head and surface for damage or deformation. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Are bolts and nuts sold individually or as sets?

Most bolts, nuts and washers are sold individually, unless the product page clearly states that they are a set.

🎨 COLOURS & ANODISING

Are the products anodised?

Coloured titanium versions are anodised. Many colours are produced in the chosen finish only after ordering. Bare Titanium is not anodised.

Why are colours anodised to order?

This allows us to offer many combinations of size, version and colour without stocking every variant in every colour. Products anodised to order require up to 3 working days of processing before dispatch.

Can anodised colours vary slightly?

Yes. Small colour differences are normal with anodised titanium. Lighting, viewing angle, surface finish and small differences between anodising processes can affect the perceived colour.

Is anodising a coating or paint layer?

No. Titanium anodising electrochemically modifies the natural oxide layer of titanium. The colour results from light interference in this oxide layer rather than pigment or paint.

How do I care for anodised titanium?

Preferably clean the surface with water, mild soap and a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh degreasers, brake cleaner, metal polishes, acidic cleaners and abrasives on anodised surfaces.

Which titanium colours are available?

TiHex offers various titanium colours and finishes, including Bare Titanium, Bronze, Purple, Blurple, Blue, Sky Blue, Gold, Rose Gold, Pink, Aqua, Teal, Green and Burnt Titanium. Available colours may vary by product.

📦 ORDERS & SHIPPING

Do you hold stock or use dropshipping?

TiHex holds its own stock and does not use a dropshipping model to ship directly from an external supplier to the customer.

What is the processing time for my order?

Products ready to ship can be processed quickly. When a product is anodised in the chosen colour after ordering, processing takes up to 3 working days before dispatch. The carrier's delivery time is additional.

How can I track my order?

Once your order is dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information if tracking is available for the chosen shipping method.

Do you ship outside the Netherlands?

Yes. TiHex ships from the Netherlands to various European countries. Available shipping options and costs are shown at checkout.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible at info@tihex.eu. Once an order has been processed, anodised or dispatched, changes may no longer be possible.

Can I return my order?

Return options depend on the product, its condition and the applicable terms. See our Return Policy for the full, current conditions.
